Hi everyone, thanks for coming to our THIRTIETH meeting!! Crazy. Thank you Quinci for bringing pizza! Our next meeting is August 14th at 6pm in the Staff Lounge, and David is bringing food. We are reading The Martian by Andy Weir. Here is some of what we talked about:
- It's hard to believe that Jorg is only 14 - he's so angry and violent. We read a lot of books about seriously troubled individuals in this book club. Maybe the fact that he was mostly being controlled by a cruel adult wizard is a reason for his behavior/attitude.
- It's also hard to believe that Jorg could be the leader of the Brothers, but he killed their huge intimidating leader and asserted his dominance and, like an intruding lion, took over the group. This was also due to the wizard controlling his actions and thoughts, though. And who knows how much control the wizard(s)/dream witches had over the brothers, as well.
- It was interesting and surprising that their world is actually our world far into the future.
- A lot of us are not inclined to read the sequels, so our next book will take us somewhere else - to the realm of science fiction!
See you next time!
