Twenty-Ninth Meeting

Thanks for coming, everyone! And thanks for dessert, Jacqueline! Our next meeting is 5 weeks from now so there's time for a little break! Don't forget there's a book suggestion box at my desk if you have any book ideas. Here's some of what we talked about on Friday night:

• Most of us disliked/hated Tom. Chris and I liked him. What does that mean?!
• Was Tom gay? Could Tom and Dickie ever have been in a relationship? Was Dickie gay? If Tom and Dickie had been in a relationship, would the ending of the story change or still be similar?
• Despite originally being an adversary, Marge became Tom's biggest asset.
• It was interesting to see how people managed to travel across Europe and still run into people that they knew, especially without cell phones. Group travel plans were organized without cell phones!
• Tom is pretty much a textbook sociopath - does his having a mental health disorder create any pity for him?

Our next meeting is Friday July 10th at 6pm and we are reading The Prince of Thorns. (It was really difficult to not type "Thrones". Muscle memory!)
