Twenty-Sixth Meeting: Watership Down

Hello readers! Sorry for the late update. Thanks for coming to our first non-Game of Thrones book club! And thank you Eileen for bringing Panera! Here's some of we talked about at our Watership Down meeting:
  • The language and names were hard to get used to
  • The rabbits' mythology gives insight into what the rabbit culture values - mainly trickery and protecting the rabbits in one's warren
  • Morals of the story? Don't be afraid of change. Work together to achieve greatness.
  • Strawberry's warren taught the rabbits how to create the honeycomb in their warren on Watership Down, how to carry food in their mouths (which came in handy when they were bringing bugs to Kehaar to win his trust and friendship), it let them rest for a short time to recover from their journey, and it taught them to be wary of other rabbits and to trust Fiver's instincts. All of these things were essential to their eventual success on Watership Down, making Strawberry's warren a very important place.
Our next meeting is next week on Wednesday March 4th at 6pm in the staff lounge, and we're reading The Giver. Jacqueline will bring food. Happy reading!
