Book Club this Wednesday

Okay the Seven (eight?) have spoken! Book club will be this Wednesday the 12 at 6pm in the staff lounge. Hopefully everyone is able to make it because I don't think it will be moving around anymore. We only have one more meeting after this and I'm sure we all want to get it over with before 2015! I'll be bringing food. Read on for a reminder of where we left the characters at the end of the reading.

  • Jaime ends the siege at Raventree Hall. Brienne finds him and tells him that she has found Sansa Stark, and that Sansa is a day's ride away. Brienne tells Jaime to accompany her alone, or the Hound will kill Sansa.
  • Theon tries to escape Winterfell with Jeyne Poole and Abel and his washerwomen. Their plan is to climb down the outer walls and find Stannis's army, which apparently is nearby. Someone murders Little Walder, and the washerwomen deny involvement. Theon and the washerwomen successfully sneak Jeyne from her room, but the group is separated. Two washerwomen die at the walls, and Theon and Jeyne jump from the walls alone.
  • Dany and Hizdar have reopened the fighting pits. During the first pit fights, Strong Belwas eats poisoned honeyed locusts that were meant for Dany. Drogon enters the pit to eat a boar, and Dany hops onto his back and rides away from Meereen.
  • Cersei confesses to some of her crimes. Her uncle Kevan is ruling as regent. He tells her that she must repent for her sins by "walking before the city" and Cersei refuses. She is told about the attack on Myrcella. Cersei wants to have a trial by combat and tells Kevan to have Qyburn name a new man to the kingsguard who will fight for Cersei - a champion who "will need a new name as well as a new face."
  • Barristan struggles with the change of leadership. Hizdar is ruling Meereen in Dany's absence. Barristan meets with the Shavepate in secret. The Shavepate claims to have the poisoner -- one of Hizdar's men. The Shavepate convinces Barristan to use the Unsullied to kill the Yunkai'i and overthrow Hizdar, obliterating Dany's peace.
  • Victarion is on his way to Slaver's Bay. Storms have destroyed about half of his warships but he refuses to go back to the Iron Islands without Dany. He finds Moqorro, the Red Priest from Tyrion's ship, and takes him on board. Moqorro heals a festering wound on Victarion's hand, and Victarion decides to keep Moqorro around and kill the Maester who he believes had been poisoning the wound.
  • Tyrion, Penny and Jorah escape Yezzan zo Qaggaz, who is dying. They go to the Second Sons' camp and Tyrion tries to strike a deal with Brown Ben Plumm.
  • Jon lets the wildlings through the wall. He receives a letter from the ships at Hardhome - only six ships are still functional, the wildlings are eating their own dead and think that the Night's Watch are slavers, and there are dead things in the woods and in the water. They are begging for help sent by land since the seas are wracked by storms.
What is dead may never die, but rises again, harder and stronger. See you all at 6pm Wednesday!
