- Davos is killed and we only hear about it briefly in a Cersei chapter. Very anticlimactic.
- Cersei brings out the worst in Jaime, and Brienne brings out the best in him. Everything he did in his youth was for Cersei, including joining the Kingsguard and pushing Bran out of a window. Brienne is the only person who knows why Jaime killed King Aerys and that he had a good reason for it.
- Brienne was given Oathkeeper to be the knight that Jaime can't be.
- Brienne is now looking for the Hound because she heard that "the Stark girl" was with him at the Twins. We are unsure if the Hound is dead or not - Arya left him to die of his seemingly mortal wounds, but there are rumors of him sacking towns. We seemed to all agree that he was probably dead, and someone else is wearing his dog's head helmet.
- Ser Lyn Corbray is being paid by Littlefinger to be his "enemy," which is a very sneaky way to keep tabs on Littlefinger's real enemies, and manipulate situations.
- We don't know who betrayed Arianne, but we think it might have been Darkstar - the only one who was not a friend of hers since childhood and might have had a reason to betray her. Someone may have also escaped Areo's men, but we weren't told who. This was also possibly Darkstar. What could his motives have been for betraying Arianne?
- Remember that Book 4 only includes half of the usual point-of-view characters. The first half of Book 5 takes place during the same time span as Book 4 but from the missing characters' points of view (including Jon, Dany, and Tyrion). The second half of Book 5 takes place after the events of Book 4 and includes all of the characters.
Happy reading!
